Can Doxycycline Delay The Period?

Hi I ve been taking Doxycycline for acne for about two/three weeks now, and am two days late on my period. I am sexually active but we are careful and wear condoms and use the pull out method. I am not currently taking any birth control. Should I be looking into taking a pregnancy test or can Doxy delay a cycle?

Hello, from the history you have given, well doxycycline is an antibiotic, it usually does not alter the cycles . Sometimes stress also delays the cycles. Barrier method has a higher failure rate than other modes of contraception. If your periods are always regular, than I would suggest you to do a urine pregnancy at home to rule out pregnancy. Sometimes the urine pregnancy test may show faintly positive line or will not turn out to be positive, this is because of low levels of beta HCG in early weeks of gestation, then you may have to do a serum beta HCG ( blood test ) for confirmation. Hope i was helpful to you.
