Can Bleeding From Brown To Blood And Back Pain Symptoms For Miscarriage?

Hello Dr. Lundi!
For the past week I have been bleeding. It started right after my vaginal ultrasound and hasn't stopped since. The colors vary from a light brown to a bright red. I am not experiencing any sort of cramping but I do have lower back pain. Do you think that this sounds like a miscarriage? Please help.

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Bleeding after vaginal ultrasound scan may be due to blunt trauma or injury during procedure.

However, implantation bleeding or early miscarriage should be ruled out if you were sexually active. It is mostly bright red to brown.

Other reasons could be due to old endometrial tissue, pelvic or vaginal infection, hormonal imbalance, stress etc.

Do one home pregnancy test to clear doubt. You may need to undergo one TVS scan to detect uterine pathology if any. Upload test report when available. Good luck and take care.
