I have just been for pre-op tests and the ECG shows Inferior infarct (40+MS Q wave and/or St/t abnormality in II/AVF) probably old anteroseptal infarct (40+ MS Q wave in V1-V4) age undetermined. Moderate ST depression (0.05+ MV ST depression) Abnormal ECG
I am 64 years of age and the op is still going ahead. I have absolutely no idea what the above means. Did I have a mild heart attack at some time.
I am healthy, exercise regularly and eat fairly sensibly.
Thanks
Liz
Hi Liz, I went through your ECG findings and the findings do indicate two old infarcts 1. inferior infarct 2. anterospetal infarct.
It is prepared by an instrument and there is scope of misinterpretation. An echocardiography can confirm the diagnosis. You probably had a heart attack at sometime. Many people can have mild infarcts and only during time like pre-op or regular checkups, it shows up. These are warning signs and you need to take it seriously. Get an echocardiography done and if confirmed, further studies are essential to assess the risk of future infarction's like angiogram. To prevent future thrombosis, medications are necessary like antiplatelet agents and non-pharmacologic therapy includes weight reduction, lipid control and proper diet. Any further queries, happy to help again.
