Can Amlodipine Mg And Atorvastatin Mg Be Taken After Having Wine?
I don t normally drink but had half a glass of red wine tonight and want to know if it is safe to take my evening meds Amlodipine mg and Atorvastatin mg. I also take Metoprolol ER mg. in the morning I only drink a small amount of wine a few times a year. This is not a regular practice but I just started these meds this past month.
Hello, Amlodepine is a calcium channel blocking medication and Metoprolol is a Betablocker. These two are blood pressure medications. Atorvastatin is used for the treatment of high cholesterol and triglycerides. A glass of red wine does not cause any interaction with them. Atorvastatin may produce liver enzyme elevation in some people. In such people alcohol is not advisable as excess alcohol also produces liver inflammation and elevation of enzymes. Some of my patients in India were taking alcohol in moderation and had no problems. However if you are concerned do blood test ALT and make sure it is normal. I shall be happy to answer any future query. Dr. Noble Zachariah
