I fractured my rib on right side and bruised my right breast extremely bad. Now I have always been told there s nothing they can do for broken rib,is this true or is this fact out dated? And is there anything to worry about concerning the breast injury? I am DD so I m pretty sure that s what actually broke my rib.lol But the bruise looks like a clot ,it s bad.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Rib fracture can be managed conservatively, No need of surgical fixation or braces are required.

As of now you can use analgesics/anti inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.

Generally it will settle by five to six days.

If symptoms persists you can consult a general surgeon and plan for a CT thorax to look for any internal injury.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
