Can A Pregnancy Test Be Negative But I Still Miss My Period?
Hi, so I had a miscarriage about 4 months ago and once I got my period back its been on track each month and now this month it s a week and a half late. I ve taken 2 pregnancy tests and they both came out negative. I m having a lot of the same symptoms I had with my first pregnancy. Could these be false negatives?
It is possible that it is a false negative if it was done too early. Pregnancy test detect the HCG hormone.
This is normally detectable by day 11 to 14 after conception.
If the tests were done before this time , they would be falsely negative and should be repeated in a few days.
If it is truly negative then there maybe another cause for the delayed period. Other causes are: emotional stress or illness, abnormal levels of thyroid hormone, high prolactin hormone levels, physical illness, side effect of medication, polycystic ovarian syndrome
I hope this helps
