Can TSH Level 12 Make Any Impact On Foetus Which Is 5 Weeks Old?

My wife is 5 weeks pregnant. This is assisted IVF pregnancy. We did her TSH test yesterday and the value is 12.20 .Before pregnancy her TSH level is 3.2. She was NOT taking any medicine for this.

We are advised to consult an endocrinology. I just need to know:
1) Has the TSH level 12 made any impact on the developing foetus during the past 5 weeks.

Hi and welcome to HCM

During a normal pregnancy, the following are the TSH normal ranges for an iodine-sufficient population.

First Trimester: 0.24 - 2.99
Second Trimester: .46-2.95
Third Trimester: .43 - 2.78

Thyroid hormone is critical to normal development of the baby’s brain and nervous system. During the first trimester, the fetus depends on the mother’s supply of thyroid hormone, which comes through the placenta. At around 12 weeks, the baby’s thyroid begins to function on its own.
Hypothyroidism is treated with synthetic thyroid hormone called thyroxine—a medication which is identical to the T4 made by the thyroid. Thyroid function should be checked every 6 to 8 weeks during pregnancy. Synthetic thyroxine is safe and necessary for the well-being of the fetus if the mother has hypothyroidism.
The babies of mothers who were hypothyroid in the first part of pregnancy, then adequately treated, exhibited slower motor development than the babies of normal mothers. Their may be slight impact on developing fetus in your wife case.
Trust your doctor and take treatment as advised.
