Can TB Relapse?

my mother had undiagnosed fever two years back and she was given TB medicine which she continued for six months....now again for the past two months she is having the fever which remains like 99.4-100F. All the tests are negative. She is around 80 yrs. can TB recur again?

Yes TB can relapse and more commonly in old age as immunity start decreasing in old age. So relapse rates are quite higher In old age. So you should consult pulmonologist and get done chest x ray. And one more thing, in old age sputum report can come negatice so no need to rely on sputum repirt. Consult pulmonologist.
