Can Ptergium Be Passed From Mother To Child?

Hi, I have a pteryguim in my right eye for years now without obstructing my vision and despite taking some eye drops. A doctor recommended an eye surgery but i am a bit hesitant. Recently I noticed that my son (10 months old) has a red eye in his right side and I am afraid that he got also a pteryguim. Is it contagious? What can we do?
