Can Prevacid And Nexium Affect Kidney Function?
I have been on generic achiphex for quite some time. I take it every day. I now see that Previced, Nexium cause major kidney problems. My doctor has seen an increase in my kidney numbers on scheduled 6 months blood work. I had blood work done Monday for my appointment a week from today. My doctor s. office called today and said my numbers are dangerously high for kidneys. Could the medication do this? The doctor wants me to stop eating meat, particularly red meat until I see him next week. He is a kidney specialist as well as a GP and he prescibed the achiphex.

Nexium is Esmoprazole is used for the treatment of gastrointestinal reflux disease. I don't think it causes such type of major kidney problems. Something other is there for kidney problems.
And it's true that you should avoid meat and high protein diet. Take plenty amount of water atleast 4 to 5 litres per day.
Achiphex is good alternative for controlling acidity and GERD. But consult a physician as you get an appointment.
