Can Pepto Bismol Taken For Diarrhea And Nausea Lead To Black Stool And Hip Bone Pain?

Last Monday had diarrhea and threw up (wrenching) one time, I continued having loose stools for about a week, no more nauseous, tired and since diarrhea came and went I took Pepto Bismol for two days. I've had cramps on and off too. The Diarrhea stopped but I had a black stool today and I still have slight cramps. ALSO TWO DAYS AGO I had a pain on my right side between my stomach and my hip bone when I breathed in. ??????? Thanks for your time!

Hi,
Thanks for posting your uery.
I am Dr.Ratnakar and I am pleased to assist you.
Pepto Bismol is known to cause black stools. So no need to worry about that.
But it does not cause hip pain or the place you have mentioned.
Take tylenol and prilosec for relief.

I hope that answers your question.
Regards,
Dr.Ratnakar
