Can Misoprostol Be Used Vaginally For Abortion?

I just want to make sure misoprostol 200 mcg tablets can be used vaginally that is how the Dr. prescribed it, but after reading the pharmacy information it is usually take orally and I just want to make sure I was given the correct medication?? I was given this due to pregnancy that is no good.

Understand your concern
Yes misoprostol is right drug for medical termination of pregnancy.
But remember it should be used under observation after getting proper guidance of dose and complication.

It should be taken by two way:
1. Vaginally: should be put high in the vagina (one by one tablet) by gynecologist
2. Orally: should be put under the tongue and keep it for 30 minutes after 30 minutes chew the remaining tablet.
But only 200 mg single dose does not cause abortion. You have to use 400 ug every 4-6 hourly till the bleeding is induced maximum up to 2400 ug dose.
Bleeding will start after 30-45 minutes after last dose normally , but may be delayed for 72 hour.
Post pill use USG scan should be done to confirm retai product of pregnancy.
