Hi there, I am taking Lyrica for disc degenration from the last 2 months. i have taken almost 74 tablets. Today I wanted to stop so I went to the doctor and asked if I can. Before he was saying that we will gradually decrease the dose but today he said I can stop. When I asked him if I can decrease the dose he replied it s not necessary. Lyrica (pregabalin) can cause dependance in long term users. This may lead to withdrawal symptoms if Lyrica is stopped abruptly in such patients. I would presume that your doctor might have thought a duration of 2 months does not necessarily require a dose tapering. And I too would second that opinion.
I would have recommended my patient to follow the consultant's instructions and report if there are any withdrawal symptoms. I hope the above information helps you. Thanks.
