Can IUD Loop Cause Complications In Pregnancy?

hi doctor,
my wife use the IUD loop to stop pregnancy but unfortunately she get pregnant after 8 month of loop insertion and now she is in 7th week of her pregnancy. we went to the Doctor but she said that pregnancy is healthy and they try to remove that loop but they couldn't find the string to pull it out. Now they decided to leave the loop there until the pregnancy get mature.
My concern is that:
Is there any danger for my wife or my baby?
Is there any chances of miscarriage or early abortion?
what you will suggest us to do or to follow?

Hi Shahzad,

I can understand your concerns. IUD loop in pregnancy can lead to miscarriage or early abortion. There is normally no danger to your wife but to the baby yes. However there have been successful pregnancies also with IUD . So if you are interested in continuing this keep getting regular sonographies of womb and congenital anomaly scans.
