Can I Take Warfarin After A Surgical Removal Of Skin Lesion?

I am 80 years of age. excellent health. Recently prescribed Warfarin and tested weekly for levels of 2.5 INR which have been very steady. I am very anxious using this med because the slightest break in my skin (i.e.) surgical removal of a skin lesion for test by a dermatologist ended up being a bleeding period of several hours even though an appropriate suture and bandage was applied. Just plain scared tp death! Can you make an evaluation of this problem? How safe is Xarelto if my Doc will agree to the change? Thanlk you for your help. YYYY@YYYY

Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic,
Xarelto and warfarin are both anti coagulants and their purpose is to prevent easy coagulation of blood to prevent stroke. I feel with such good control of INR it is better not to stop warfarin. Just 5 days before elective procedures you can stop warfarin and restart once procedure is over. Inform doctors in advance that you are on warfarin so that procedure can be planned properly.
Hope this helped,
Take care.
