Can I Have Unprotected Sex While Having Tri-Sprintec?

I'm a 21 year old female, I weigh 114 & my height is 5'2"... My question is about the 28 Day Regimen of Tri-Sprintec. I was taking this form of birth control for six months straight and stopped around January of this year due to the doctor I was seeing at the time, well her practice was closed therefore I was unable to refill my prescription. I've just recently began taking Tri-Sprintec again (this past sunday was my first day taking it). And just as a side note, I just got off of my cycle this previous friday. With that being said, my question is how soon would it be safe for me to have unprotected sex while on Tri-Sprintec again?

Hello,

Well there are 2 answers to this question. Your Sunday start was perfectly timed since you were bleeding on Friday. And so yes, you could have unprotected sex and pregnancy should be prevented.

But, most of us would counsel to use a condom for the first week, just to be extra sure to avoid pregnancy since you have just restarted the pills.
