hello . Dr. can you help me to answer some question on the anatomy lab. The coronary sinus dumps blood into which heart chamber? where does blood entering the coronary sinus come?

Hi,
The coronary sinus collects blood from the myocardium and feeds it into the right atrium.
Foramen ovale and ductus arteriosum are 2 fetal shunts. The foramen ovale allows blood to pass from the right to the left atrium. The ductus arteriosum is a blood vessel connecting the fetal pulmonary artery to the proximal descending aorta. Both these structure allow the fetal blood to bypass the fluid filled lungs in-utero.
If they remain patent after birth, there will be a large right to left shunt and significant amounts of deoxygenated blood will pass into the left heart and into the systemic circulation.
The ligamentum arteriosum is the ligament that is left when the DA closes. It lies close to the recurrent laryngeal nerve. It has no beneficial function.
