Can Demerol Be Taken For Severe Pain Due To Ankylosing Spondylitis And Cancer?

I had a bone marrow biopsy last Friday. The pain was horrific. They gave me demerol in the hospital which I tolerate very well with few side effects. I have many drug related allergies including morphine, acetaminophen and all NSAIDs. The only medicine the doctor would send me home with was oxycodone. I did not want to take it and have not. I am still in excruciating pain almost a week later. My doctor flat ot said no demerol and they are out of town until next moonth. I won't even get my results for three more weeks…. I am recovering from cancer and have untreated Ankylosing Spondylitis. I do not understand why they would be willing to give me a drug that could potentially harm me over a drug that is known to be safe for me… the oxy seems more dangerous, even more potent than the demerol. Is the doctor correct to leave me in pain or force me to try the oxy knowing I could have an allergic reaction????
