Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I m diagnosed with an ischemic atrial fibrillation and I m taking daily 2.5 to 3.25 mg of Bisoprolol and 75 mg of aspirin. For about 3 weeks I m taking Naproxen 500 mg due to some foot pain (fiber tissue inflammation) and at the moment I m also take Potter s strong bronchial catarrh pastilles that I bought over the counter to treat my chesty caugh. The heart palpitations persist for long periods of time in the evening and I m wonder if some of the medicines that m taken has some side effects.
although naproxen may (rarely though) cause palpitations and the same applies for infections and any kind of pain but the most likely cause is your atrial fibrillation. Atrial fibrillation may cause attacks of fast heart rate which can be corrected with drugs like bisoprolol. I can't say about the pastilles because it's not actually a drug with documented effects. Perhaps you should discuss this with your cardiologist. An ECG recording when you have symptoms will probably clarify the issue.
I hope you find my comments helpful! You can contact me again, if you'd like any clarification or further information.
Kind regards!
