Can Amoxicillin Cause Abdominal Cramps And Vaginal Spotting?

Hello . I am taking microgestin continuously and have had no issues. I was prescribed amoxicillin following a dental procedure last week and began having some cramping and spotting. I wanted to see if this could be because of the antibiotic. Also curious if this will resolve as I have completed the antibiotic. I should mention I am still using peridex rinse that was prescribed.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. Thanks for the query. I understand your concern. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Amoxicillin in few patient's gives abdominal cramps & loose motion when taken for a long period.... but vaginal bleeding is not known to occur with the antibiotic. On the other hand, Minigest is known to cause irregular vaginal bleeding, so bleeding seems to be due to Minigest action.
