Bump On The Left Side Just Behind The Ears After Hitting Head. Anything To Worry ?

hi, i am asking on behalf of my friend, below are her status :

Hi mummies, due to my clumpainess on Sunday, my hand slipped n dropped my 4.5mo while loading her into d car in her graco car seat carrier. She hit her head on d side of d seat n developed a bump on her left side just behind her ears.. I hv then applied ice n d bump subsided a little... monitored her for 48 hours with no vomiting, active, happy as usual n sleep, nurse as usual... on Tuesday evening, we realized tat her bump had suddenly grown bigger so we took her to ER on Wednesday morning n got referred to pead who then called for an ultrasound scan.. found no internal bleeding n according to doctor all is fine... it cld be just some liquid building up btw skull n skin.. her brain was fine... However, we still found tat d bump seem to be growing! On Sunday, d bump was d size of my thumb but now it is d size of a big egg!

Hi thanks for your question.
There is nothing to worry since she doesn't have any brain injury.Bump could be due to haemotoma (collection of blood under skin and muscle).Haematoma do occur after blunt trauma but get resolved of itself .Increase in size of Bump could be because of two reasons. No 1. Bleeding .Small amount of blood may be still ozing from mastoid bone which is at site of injury under skin.No 2.Superadded bacterail infection of the haematoma.Re consult the Doctor who may re examine her and may put her on treatment.
Hope this answers your question.
