Bronchitis Not Getting Better After The Use Of Penicillin And Amoxicillin. Could It Be Turning Into Pneumonia?

I've had bronchitis for 25days now. Initially I was prescribed 200mg of penicillin, they didn't work at all. Two days ago was prescribed 500mg 3 times per day of amoxicillin, but so far I don't feel any better. When am I likely to improve, how can I tell if its turned to pneumonia? Ive never smoke in my life and not asthmatic, so why is it lasting this long?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,

The reason for persistence of your symptoms can be:
1. The causative organism is resistance to penicillin & amoxicillin
2. Inadequate protective measures taken for strengthening of body immunity.
3. Possibility of having Tuberculosis infection, in which case treatment will be different.

So, kindly consult a Pulmonologist & get a proper examination done.
Investigation like X ray of chest, sputum test (microscopy) as well as culture & sensitivity will be helpful.

Wishing you a Good Health.
Thanks & take care
