Breastfeeding, Have Feeling Of Stopped Heart Beats, Loss Of Breath, Death. Is It The Body's Natural Reaction To The Producing Breast Milk?

Hi I am currently breastfeeding my 4 month baby, im aware that my body and heart is working over time to produce the milk.Lately when I am just falling asleep my heart gives a massive jump, I feel like its stopping and my brain starts thinking im going to crash, lose breath, even die (worst case scenario) and it takes while to calm and get to sleep, I want to know if this is just anxiety/panic or just bodies natural reaction to the producing breast milk ? thank you

hi jane,

first let me tell you about milk production.. its just like production of any other body fluids like blood or saliva or gastric juices.. it goes unnoticed and has nothing to do with heart pumping heavily for production of milk.. it has more to do with the stress of delivery and getting used to a new member of the family.. this may also include the time the baby demands for his care and lack of adequate rest to the mother.. this can stress out the brain and gives you a feeling of all the symptoms you have described..
more than anxiety/ panic it is just stress related and you need a good amount of sleep/rest and a good nutritional food to replenish the body stores required for both you and your baby.. so just get a good nap when ever child is asleep after feeds.. that is one way of catching up on sleep.. visit your doctor for supplements of vitamins and minerals which should help you recover quickly..
