Bleeding For 9 Days, Prescribed Norethisterone. Normal?

Hi,

I'm 52 years old. I was having heavy bleeding for 9 days. The doctor prescribed Norethisterone 3 tabs for 10 days. The bleeding stoped by the 2nd day. Had my period on the 4th day of stoping Norethisterone. However now I'm experiencing heavy bleeding with huge clots and pain that feels like I'm in labour. My questions are:

a) Is this normal?
b) How long should my period last?

Thanks and appreciate your help as I'm getting rather worried.

Hi,
Having heavy period might be due to some hormonal imbalance at this menopausal age.
But at the same time this should not be neglected and investigations like ultra sound required to rule out any pathology in uterus.
Consult Gynaec and get examined.
Ok and take care.
