Bitten By Insect On Thigh, Itchiness, Dry Bumps, Red Outer Ring, Bruise Like Appearance. Treatment?

About a month ago, I thought I got bit by a bug on my inner thigh. It was itchy and the size of a nickle. Now its larger than my hand and the middle part has bumps (dry) but the outer ring of the bit is red. Somedays it looks like a bruise , I guess from all the scratching . What could this be? My insurance doesn t kick in until 2 weeks.
