Are The Symptoms Caused By Cefdinir?

taking cefdinir since June 29th. Saturday July 2nd had chills, nausea. That went away later Saturday but have had diarrhea since. Nothing is staying inside my body. Wondering if this is a side affect of this drug. Otherwise feeling good except for low energy.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Cefdinir is a broad spectrum antibiotic and if you continue it for a longer period of time,it kills your gut's beneficial bacteria resulting in upset stomach. I'll advise to take cap. Vizylac one cap once daily along with if antibiotic has to be continued otherwise stopping of Cefdinir will relieve your symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
