my daughter had a wk of bacterial bronchitis infection.. the fever subsided in a wk and so had the cough. the cough returned after a wk now. and our doc said she had some inflamation in the tract and prescribed budecort 100.. i am worried abt giving steroid to my daughter
Hello As you mentioned that your daughter were prescribed some drugs for bacterial bronchitis ,but even after 7 days treatment she developed ( not cured ) cough again. In my opinion this type of cough ( recurrent 0 is due to allergic bronchitis . When such type of patient visit my clinic I prescribe "bambuterole syrup 2mg / ml / 10 kg patient ( so you can adjust doses according to the weight of patient . This drug causes mild fine tremors in the hands so should be given at night time . Many doctors like to prescribe budecort ( budesonide ) steroid but this is not a choice of drug for me . I usually prescribe this drug only in emergency cases. Good luck.
