Are Muscle Pain, low Grade Fever And Dizziness Suggestive Of Having Flu?

For two weeks, i have had flu like symptoms, starting with vomiting, blurred vision, then chills and high fever for 2 days, then aches and muscle pain in legs and knees for 1 weeks, continuing with fatigue, chills, low grade fever, headache, sleepines, dizziness on standing, neck pain; these syptoms have now continued for 12 days, without a break. I did come off of prozac by decreasing it, but it has been 10 weeks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Fever for more than 3 days should be evaluated by blood tests.Viral fever usually does not last beyond 3 days. Blood tests to rule out Widal, malaria, leptospirosis, Lyme disease should be done. Any history of abdominal pain, difficulty in urination, neck stiffness, cough should be ruled. Any recent history of travel should be noted.

Complete blood count, chest X-ray may also be required to rule out the causes.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
