Are Hydrocodone And Oxycodone Medicine Same For Broken Back?

yes and thank you--- my brother has been saying than oxycodone is much stronger than hydrocodone and I thought they were pretty much the same. He has major back trouble due to broken back ,rods, ets.--neuropathy in feet and legs --hip replacement approx. 3 years ago. Am not taking either and am not sure which he is on but he has brought it up several times and would just like to know the differences. They both have acetaminophen. I am a retired nurse so just curious. Thanks. bonnie

Thanks for the question Bonnie.
Both are schedule 2 narcotic pain relievers and have the same indications. The differences are

1) H is more for severe pain while O is for moderate pain

2)H is a class C drug not recommended in pregnancy while O is class B not recommended
while breastfeeding

3)Dependence and abuse potential is higher for O

4) H has a longer half life

H-Hydrocodone
O - Oxycodone
