Are Having Bumps On The Bottom Of The Lip A Possibility Of Herpes?

My friend believes he may have caught herpes from his ex. He had a couple of bumps on his bottom lip but they went away, but said he had a burning feeling before they came. And the day after he woke up with swollen neck and couldn t breath. these are symptoms of herpes that I have found. two nights ago we had smoked hooka, (my first time since I was with a bunch of old friends) and shared the same pipe as my friend. Well now, two days later I noticed a bump on the inside of my cheek, and today it busted after brushing my teeth and I bled. It looked nothing like herpes, but I don t know. My friend hasn t been tested for herpes. How do I know If I have herpes?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

As per your case history, you are having herpes simplex infection, my treatment advice is -
1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an NSAID like ibuprofen for 5-7 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral acyclovir taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
