Hi doctor i am 32 yrs old female. i m getting ivf done, yest was my embryo transfer. They transferred one embryo. Now after getting up this morning i really had a sore shoulder. Is this related? I dont know if i slept on the shoulder. Can i use a heat pack or take some pain killer. it is really painful
Shoulder pain, especially on the right side, can be caused as a referred pain from your abdomen if your peritoneum (the moist skin lining your abdominal cavity) becomes irritated. You likely had some manipulation of your internal organs during the procedure that may have caused that pain. It is a possibility also that you just slept on it and it is achy.
Regarding management of your pain, you can take Tylenol (Acetaminophen) or Paracetamol safely during pregnancy. Also a hot pack on your shoulder may help to relieve the pain.
I hope I adequately answered your question today and that you feel better. If your condition worsens, please contact your doctor and let them know.
Sincerely, Dr. Brown
