Are Beta Blockers Advisable To Reduce The Heart Rate Of A COPD Patient?

60 year old man maybe 117 lbs 5'5'
smoker, COPD, early emphysyema.
Blood pressure seems within near normal today140/87, 114 heart rate
Yesterday 121/86, 106 heart rate
Is this man's heart rate too high.
A family doctor did not want to put him on a beta blockers to lower the heart rate.
Dr said he might not wake up next morning

Yes, resting heart rate of 106 is high. But, Beta blockers are contraindicated for use in COPD, asthmatic patients. So should not be used in old person having COPD & early emphysema.
Consult your doctor he would give other drugs to control increased blood pressure & High heart rate in the patient
