Are Norethisteron Tablets Advisable In Managing Adenomyosis?

Hi Doctor, I am a 51 and a half year old lady suffering from adenomyosis. My doctor has put me on Norethistherone 5 mg ,two times a day treatment for 8 weeks and will see if I respond to this treatment and head for menopause. If I respond to this she will keep giving me the above drug. Is this Okay as I do not want to go in for Hysterotomy. Pleas help

Yes. Norethisterone is a synthetic progesterone commonly prescribed for the treatment of adenomyosis of the uterus. It helps in decreasing the size of this benign tumor as well as the symptoms associated with it. Continue taking it as prescribed. Generally it is well tolerated by most of the women however its common side effects include headache, weight gain, breast tenderness and pimples.
