Any Suggestion For Having Headache And Indentation On The Top Of Skull?

hi. i have an indentation on the top right side of my skull. it has been there for as long as i can remember. i have always had headaches in that general area. they would start there and pulse out from that spot. lately they have been getting more intense and the dent has, i think, changed shape.

Hi. Sorry to hear about the headaches. Arriving at a diagnosis here will be impossible without being able to examine you and get some tests done. So maybe I can help you out by giving you some options and putting you on the right track with your local healthcare providers.

Headaches can be caused by SO many different things that nowadays there are Neurologists who specialize in the management of headaches. Certainly a physical deformity on the skull (like an indentation or fracture or growth) can be the cause of headaches. But you have to eliminate the other major causes first before you get there.

My advice here is to get yourself to your Primary Healthcare provider and get a complete neurological exam done. They'll do the whole thing, checking your reflexes, checking your cranial nerves and everything. Plus they will be able to talk to you about the LIFESTYLE issues that commonly cause headaches (caffeine use, visual problems making you squint, etc).

If that initial exam and discussion doesn't help, most likely your Primary will recommend a good Neurologist in your area and they will carry things on further. They may want to get a CT or an MRI of your brain, that will give them a good idea of whats going on with that indentation, plus it will rule out any other nasty stuff like tumors or infections (though since you've had this for a very long time, i doubt infections are a cause in this case). They will also want to get some blood work done. Finally, they may start treating you for migraines and see if that helps you. Migraines are a very common problem and they come and go as you are describing.

So, to sum up. Check in with your doctor and get the ball rolling. I think you will be able to get some relief that way. Whatever you do.. Don't ignore it and self medicate with alot of pain meds. I've never seen that end very well.

Hope this helps. feel free to contact me through HealthCareMagic.com
