Any Ideas About Swollen Muscle Below The Left Ear While Eating With Mild Hearing Loss?

My husband noticed a swollen like muscle below his left ear while eating dinner last night but subsided the following morning , but noticed it again while eating lunch and then he said he noticed mild hearing loss at the same time on left ear... What could that be... BTW, he has history of lung cancer but now on remission with his last chemo last July 2013 . His last CT Scan was last Jan. and his oncologist said that it was good because the tumor is getting smaller... and it's either a dead or a dying tumor. Please enlighten....

Hi. The swelling which comes on whole eating is suggestive of a salivary gland with obstruction to the outflow of saliva usually due to stone or other causes. The hearing loss can be due to another reason and co-incidentally come up with the present problem. You can discuss this with your oncologist. In the meantime , I would advise you to visit an ENT surgeon to confirm the diagnosis.
