Aged Person Had A Heart Attack. Suggested That He Had One After The Surgery. Tropt Results. Problem?

Hi my Grandfather who is 92 fell and broke his leg, he has had an operation this week.
The Dr. has said that he must have had a heart attack some time as this was picked up by various tests done before his operation, however his heart was strong and the operation went ahead.
Now after the operation they have said that he has had another heart attack and this has been picked up from blood tests since his operation.
His Tropt. results are over 1000 and I am told by others that it should be under 20.

He is talking and seems fine, I'm a little confused as to the seriousness of these results as my Grandfather is in another country and I need to know if I need to make plans to fly out.

Dear Sir
Thanks for your query.
A peri-operative heart attack at age of 92 is definitely serious. However if his hemodynamics (pulse rate, BP, oxygen saturation without oxygen supplementation, respiratory rate) are normal and there is no chest pain/ shortness of breath , the chances of recovery are relatively better.
I am afraid that no parameter as yet can judge recovery/ prognosis in a single patient with surety. First 2 weeks are most critical for any complication to occur, so make your plan accordingly.
Sincerely
Sukhvinder
