After Being Accidentally Stepping On A Rusty Nail Saw Cut & Yellow/brown Liquid

My husband stepped on a rusty nail last week. He cleaned the cut and applied neosporin. His foot has been hurting and today noticed an off yellowish/brown ooze (slightly thick) coming out of the cut. What does this mean? Should we get a tetnis shot for him??

Hi,
Thank you asking your query to HCM!
When was the last time your husband had a TT shot? If it was within the last 5 years, then he need not take it. However if he hasn't had a TT shot within the last 5 years, I'd strongly advice you to immediately get one. The discharge you are describing seems to be pus oozing out, which means the wound is infected and needs urgent attention and active cleaning and dressing with proper antibiotics.
Hope this solves your query. Feel free to ask if you have any doubt.
Regards,
Dr. Sridhar Reddy
