Adino Carcinoma And Laproscopic Hysterectomy Done. Ureter Was Damaged During Surgery And It Is Not Connected To Bladder. Is This Possible?

I have Adino Carcinoma stage 1grade 2. Oct 16 I had a Hysterectomy. I was told that I will need only 3 radiation traetments. Problem during Laproscopic surgery my right Ureter was damaged. They have tried to stent it once through bladder to kidney. no go. Then a Nephoscopic was don and I am currently wearing a bag. They tried to stent my ureter a week ago. Going from kidney to bladder. No go. So they put a balloon in. I was told Ureter is no longer connected to bladder. Is this possible? Does this happen often from a laproscopic Hyster.? What can I expect now?

Urologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have undergone Laproscopic hysterectomy and there was an accidental injury to your ureter.

This is not a routine but an accident which can happen during surgery.

Since attempts have failed to establish continuity of ureter and now your kidney is drained with nephrostomy drainage tube.

The ureter has to be connected to bladder by any of the following three open surgical procedure
1) Psos Hitch
2) End to End anastomosis of the ureter.
3) Boari's flap procedure.

This will depend upon the operative feasibility and extent of damage to the ureter.
Thanks and Regards.
