Active Person. MRI Done. Suggestions?

44 yo female 5ft 8. 135lbs. MRI shows l5 s1 central disk extrusion indenting thecal sac, close to both s1 nerve roots. Canal at lower limits of normal. 2 epidurals, both helped for only 5 to 7 days. Considering surgery. In pain every day, only taking pain meds when absolutely needed. Mostly take aleve. I have always been active and I am really concerned. Any additional thoughts?

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

It is a mechanical event – causing compression
You are right in considering surgery / have it earlier – before nerve damage occurs...
Any other approach is symptomatic and does not address the cause...

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
