Acne breakout on upper thigh, butt, purple scars. Will exfoliating with cloth help?

I have a crazy out break of acne on my upper thigh and now my butt. there are pimples everywhere and purple marks from the scars. I know it s probably my poor diet but other then changing that what else can I do? I have acne medicine I use on my face and my Dr said I could use it down there but are there any other things i can try? I heard about exfoliating with a cloth any good?
