7 Year Old, Recurring Fever, Vomiting, Dry Mouth. Taking Zofran. Advice?

yes, I am debating just taking my 7 year old to the doctors...He has had a reoccuring fever for 3 days now and is presently 103.3 orally. He did vomit earlier, and I administered Zofran(given approx 2 weeks ago by treating physician. He now says his mouth is dry...do I just wait to see if the Advil I administered starts working or just take him in due to other symptoms that are present..?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
It seems that your son is having viral infection.
Due to temperature and lack of water gives rise to dry mouth.
Give him plenty of water and liquids.
After about an hour Advil will work and temperature will go down.
If there is no improvement his temperature, consult your doctor and go for complete blood count for having some conclusion about his temperature.
Ok and take care.

Pediatrician Dr. Y V Siva Sankara Murty's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.
Does he have any associated complaints like cough, cold or burning urination or increased frequency of urination etc?

Investigations like CBC, CRP, Peripheral smear for malaria, urine examination may be ordered by your doctor after physical examination.

Please monitor for danger signs. The danger signs are
1. Poor feeding and repeated vomiting.
2. Lethargy.
3. Loss of consciousness.
4. Fits or seizures.

I feel you should consult your doctor as the fever is already of more than 3 days duration. Self medication is dangerous.
Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
