6 Year Old With Severe Stomach Pain, Fever. Need Medication?

Hi I have a 6 year old daughter that from a couple of hours ago started to complain about a head ache (never does) and says her stomach aches (but nothing happens when she goes to the loo) she has a temperature of 39 and is shivering. I gave her buscopan for the stomache should we go to dr or just give her something for the fever and head ache. We are based in Nairobi at the moment

Pediatrician 's  Response
Dear user,

As you are in Nairobi, Kenya, you should remember that malaria is endemic in Africa. The presence of very high fever (with shivering) with a headache could point to this, and you should take her to a hospital ER for further tests and treatment. Even if you are taking malaria preventive tablets, they are not fool proof and one can still contract this illness, which can, at times, be lethal.
