4 year old, loss of appetite, stomach pain, white watery stools, viral infection. Suggestions?

Hi, My 4 yr old son has had loss of appetite for 2 days and complains of stomach pain once in a while. Just today he had a white, pasty stool with some water, too. Otherwise he s fine. We just had a nasty virus run through the family with mostly cold-like symptoms, but no-one had these particular symptoms. Any suggestions?

Acute watery diarrhea is a self limiting condition, lasting less than week.

But as you mention white pasty stool(may be it is mucus), and its indicated bacterial infection, It s need to take appropriate antibiotic, under pediatric supervision.

In Diarrhea important thing is watch for Dehydration Sign. (low urine out put, sunken eyes, Absent tear less, drowsiness, Lethargic, Abdominal distention, Restlessness etc)

Pediatric opinion:
If your child dehydrate.
Stool with blood
Stool with mucus(White sticky discharge)
High Grade fever.

I would advice:
Stool examination to diagnosed whether it is infected or not.
keep her/ him Hydrate. Is most important condition in diarrhea
1.Give plenty of water(1/2 liter water+ 4 tsf sugar+ 1/2 tsf salt) Or ORS
2.Apple juice, Tea, Pomegranate juice, Coconut water, lemon water Butter milk, Rice Kanjee, Arrowroot Kanjee etc
3. Proper hygiene.
4 Avoid out side food.
