22 Week Ultrasound Shows Ventricles Dilated To 13mm, Water On Brain. Indications?

My daughter just had her 22 week ultrasound , and fetal assessment, and is told that the ventricles are dilated to 13mm and there is alot of water on brain, but brain structure looks good still....what are we looking at going forward? Everything I read is not good, and her MRI of baby brain and amnioscentsis isn t until next week.

I am so sorry about your daughter's situation. What you are describing is called hydrocephalus. There is an association with chromosomal problems, so the amniocentesis is a good idea. There is no way to fully counsel your daughter going forward until the chromosomes are known - whether they are normal or not. The best thing you can do is to write down your questions for the doctor before that visit. The internet can provide some scary information on this topic, but there is no way to no whether any of it applies to your daughter. I wish you the best.
