14 Year Old Overweight With Missing Periods. Not Pregnant. Due To Stress?

Hi, I m fourteen, I am sexually active, but I do not have sex frequently, in fact, I barely have sex at all. Sperm has never gotten near my vagina and I have practiced safe sex . I have noticed I have been getting my period very irregularly, every other month to be exact. I am overweight , and I am in high school. I was thinking my missed period could be due to stress, or even my weight problem. I have not gotten my period in two months, and I am very nervous. Please, help.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Dear Emily you seem to be suffering from a common hormonal condition called Polycystic ovary syndrome. This is a manageable condition. Early diagnosis and treatment may reduce the risk of long-term complications, such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease. See Your GP or gynaecologist who would suggest some blood work & an ovarian ultrasound . Healthy lifestyle changes & Stress management will be definitely helpful.
