14 Year Old, Heavy Flow For Several Days During Periods. Active In Sports. What Should Be Done?

Yes, my 14 yr. old daughter has had her menstral period for 2yrs. and she is extremely active in sports. The past year she has been having her cycle twice a month and extremely heavy flow that lasts for several days. She is not sexually active nor is she on any type of birth control. I have already had a sensitve th test to check her thyroid because there is background history on my mothers side. Can you give me any information to help or options. I dont feel birthcontrol should be administered until we know what exactly is going on, because it also has some side effects that she may not find to be pleasant to deal with. Besides masking a possible problem for her further down the road.

Hi,
Initially during puberty age due to some hormonal changes going on, there are chances of having period early, late, more or less flow etc.
Wait for few months to regularize the period.
Afterwards if require go for cycle regular hormonal course for 3-4 months if your Gynaec advices.
Ok and take care.
