14 Month Daughter, Fever, Loose Motion, Vomiting. Loss Of Appetite After Taking Antibiotics. Advice?
My daughter is 14 months old. She had high fever 5 days ago and we took her to the doctor. Doctor gave her antibiotics (Penicillin) for 5 days as she had inflamed tonsils. Since starting antibiotics her appetite has gone down completely. She used to be very good with eating earlier. Also she has been having loose stools everyday. The fever is gone since yesterday (Day 4 of antibiotics) and her appetite improved today (Day 5 of antibiotics). However there has been 2 instances of vomitting today in the evening and the loose stools are continuing. What can be done to make her feel better. Is vomitting a sign of something serious ? We have been giving her ORS and lots of fluid to keep her hydrated.

what is the present status of loose stools.has their number decreased.is baby passing urine normally.baby can have one or two episodes of vomiting dont worry for that.sometimes administration of oral mediicnes does causes vomitingor vomiting itself can be due to upper respiratory tract infection which your child was having. if it continues thn it could be due to drug induced gastritis.just add one eight of tab histac evt dissolved in half cup water every morning in empty stomach for 4-5 days ( use a new tablet everyday and threw rest unused ).

your child had tonsillitis with fever for which she was given antibiotic.
This is good that fever has also come down.
Loose motions are related to antibiotic intake.Relax there is nothing to worry once antibiotic is stopped loose motions will also settle.
Continue with oral rehydration solution in case stools are watery.
Give probiotic sachet as they help in maintaining normal gut flora which gut disturbed with antibiotics.
Give soft diet like rice porridge,curd.
In case vomiting persist get her evaluated by your pediatrician.
