Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome to Ask a Doctor service!

I understand your concern and would explain that some skipped heart beats are quite normal in every healthy individual during physical stress or anxiety, especially if you have haven’t been active for sometime.

For this reason there is no reason to panic.

If this situation persists, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and some tests:

- complete blood count for anemia
- blood electrolytes for imbalance
- thyroid hormone levels for thyroid gland dysfunction.

An ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring (Holter) would help investigate on possible cardiac arrhythmia.

In the meantime I recommend taking plenty of fluids in order to stay well hydrated.

Hope you will find this information helpful!

I remain at your disposal in case of further questions whenever you need!

Kind regards,

Dr. Ilir Sharka
