Is Yoga Advisable For Low Back Pain?

Question: I am having low back pain from past 19 years , is it good to go for a 'Yoga?, I am getting relaxation from it. It is a kind of hip pain on right side, I unsder went X ray last week but there is no majo problem found in the same and doctor has told that my muscles are weak and have to do exercise,.

Yes, it is good to go for yoga for low back pain.These exercises to strengthen the spine are very important to restore normal spinal movements and muscle strength. The main aim of exercise is to encourage mobility, reduce muscle spasm, prevent further deterioration in the muscles and speed recovery. Adequate rest and proper nutrition is equally important. Drink lots of fluids. Eat a diet rich in fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables, nuts, milk, eggs, pulses and cereals. Do brisk walking exercise for 40 minutes daily. Get 6-8 hours of refreshing sleep daily. Do start with swimming. This will be good for most back pains. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
