default
Posted on Wed, 19 Nov 2014
Question: Hi my LMP was 17th Sep. I had taken mifepristone 200mg on 25th Oct and after 12 hours I had taken misoproste(200mcg) 2 Tabs orally and 2 Tabs vaginally. After 6 hours I had some spotting only but no bleeding started.

What do you suggest, should I wait or need to take additional dosage.

Brief Answer:
You can wait for 1-2 hrs. For bleeding.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to us about it.

I can understand your concern, though.

The abortion pills should always be conducted under supervision of a gynecologist.

Sometimes severe bleeding, infection and incomplete abortion can take place.

Usually bleeding starts 2-4 hrs. After taking mesoprostol, in your case it is already 6 hrs. But you should wait for 1-2hrs. More because bleeding may delay sometimes.

But if bleeding does not occur after 3-4 hrs. You should confer with your treating doctor and get your ultrasound done and then only go for another dose of medication (after consulting your doctor).

Hope it is useful, feel free to ask more questions.

Good luck.
